Recently: THE DECA NORTH-SOUTH REGIONAL CONFERENCE known as the POWER TRIP in BOSTON!
We went to the Boston DECA Power Trip Conference on November 1-3! Along with Manchester Central’s DECA Chapter, we participated in workshops, exhibits, and other great activities. We also be presented our own workshop on Saturday! We had a great time at the Conference, and felt that our workshop brought value and knowledge to the participants!
The Fall Leadership Conference on October 22nd. Our annual state-wide kick-off for all the activities we do in New Hampshire DECA. Over 600 students, advisors, and chaperones attended, making it our biggest Fall Conference ever! Special Thanks to Mrs. Suzanne Winters who coordinated and organized this year’s conference! And thanks to those who brought cans to donate to the New Hampshire Food Bank…. and thanks, DECA students, for being so great!
Had a fantastic time at the Fall Leadership Conference yesterday! The trainers were so good, and the buffet lunch at SNHU was tasty! Here is a photo of the Manchester Central pumpkin carvers getting their trophy (fourth year in a row!) for winning the NH DECA Pumpkin carving contest!

__CURRENT OFFICER NEWS:___
The team is currently planning their role in the Fall Leadership Conference coming on October 22nd in Manchester, at Southern New Hampshire University. The YES WE “CAN” can drive is a state wide project asking all DECA members attending the state conference to bring just one can of food for the New Hampshire Food Bank. They will be collected as schools check in at the conference, and delivered at the end of the day to the Food Bank. Please join in with this voluntary charity project as New Hampshire DECA helps out local communities across the state to feed our neighbors in need. Officers will also be helping with the 4th Annual pumpkin carving contest at the conference, and presenting the trophy for the winning chapter!

The new and the old! Team 57, the latest group of New Hampshire DECA officers, dines with Team 56, the 2012-2013 officer team, in Manchester. They discussed the duties and ups and downs of the job of being a state officer, and looked at plans for the upcoming year ahead. We thank Krysta, Sarah, Gabby and Cam for the great job they did during their term as Team 56, and we look forward to an exciting year ahead, with the Fall Leadership Conference in October and the North Atlantic Regional Conference in Boston in November! Stand by for another great year of DECA and Making It Count!

We met them on January 10th at the Officer Candidate Interviews, and they seem like a great bunch of enthusiastic future officers! We wish them luck in their upcoming campaigns at CDC in Manchester in February!

We encourage all DECA members to sign up with their Chapter Advisor and get ready for a memorable experience! Select your competitive event category, and plan on being at the first ever formal dance on February 14th, after the Mini-Awards Ceremony in the Radisson Ballroom!
DECA POWER TRIP WORKSHOP A BIG SUCCESS IN WASHINGTON D.C.
New Hampshire DECA State Officer Cam works with the audience at the NH DECA Power Trip Workshop in Washington D.C. on November 15th. Over 70 students from the north and south eastern states attended the workshop which focused on developing a professional network.

Team 56, for the 2012-2013 term, was elected on Friday, February 17th, and is now in place… their first duty will be to attend the ICDC in Salt Lake City and participate in LEADS, the Leadership Education and Development Series. CONGRATULATIONS to new officers Cameron, Gabrielle, and re-elected officers Sarah and Krysta. NH DECA is in good hands for the future, and we look forward to getting underway with Team 56!

NH DECA TRIVIA CHALLENGE!
This year, we will have the first ever DECA Trivia Challenge at the State Conference! We already have over 10 teams signed up- be sure to get a team going from your chapter! There will be questions about economics, marketing, business and DECA… it will be a blast, and the winning team gets a trophy to take back to their school! JOIN US if you haven’t already!
Tips for the State DECA Conference!
This year the conference promises to be the biggest ever! Over 350 New Hampshire DECA members are scheduled to attend, and there will be over 35 different competitive events, from Marketing Management to business administration to advertising to Fashion Merchandising…and that is just the tip of the iceberg! We will have a speaker from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, a hypnotist brought back by popular demand, and of course the NEON theme dance on Thursday night! AND: the first annual DECA Marketing and Economics TRIVIA Challenge! Plus— for the fifth year, our favorite caricature artist will be back to draw you! So remember these tips: Bring your ID as you will need it for all competitive events and testing; bring a #2 pencil and non-programmable calculator to the written test. Wear your nametag and wrist band at all times- don’t leave the hotel…and have a great time! Network! Learn new things! Have fun! Make some new friends! See you there!

North Atlantic Regional Conference (NARCON)
The NH DECA State Officer Team will present a workshop at NARCON this year in the Diamond Series Workshops on Friday night in Philadelphia. It will focus on Interview Tips, and will be open to all DECA members attending the conference. If you are going to NARCON, be sure to attend this session!!!
NEW HAMPSHIRE DECA WEEK!!! (Oct. 24-28)
Monday: Carve your chapter’s pumpkin for the Pumpkin contest at Fall Leadership tomorrow!
Tuesday: Get pumped and be at Fall Leadership Conference at Southern NH University today!
Wednesday: Diamonds for DECA– hide DECA diamonds around school, and have prizes for whomever finds them and turns them in to your store!
Thursday: DECA charity day- pick a charity, and “sell” DECA diamonds for a dollar to raise money for that charity similar to the MDA Shamrock fund raising activities every year!
Friday: DECA Dress Up Day- dress in your best professional attire; guys with a shirt and tie and dress slacks and shoes, and girls in professional business outfits! And get your DECA Advisor dressed up in a costume for Halloween!
Have the best DECA week ever…add your own ideas and local chapter touches to the week!

The term of the 2010-2011 Officer Team 54 is now over, and we congratulate newly elected DECA State Officer Juliann Westbrook from the Seacoast School of Technology! We wish Juliann all the best in her duties, and hope we see you all at the International DECA Conference in Orlando in April. We will be at the conference as former officers, competing in our events or attending the Senior Management Institute (SMI). It will be a short while before we transition the web page to Team 55….stand by! Meanwhile, get ready to “SOAK UP THE SUN!!!!”

Well, the 2011 State Conference is almost here, and our term will end this coming Thursday! Good luck to the new officers, and New Hampshire DECA, as we head for Orlando and the International Conference this April to “Soak up the Sun!”
INTERVIEWS FOR OFFICER CANDIDATES-UPDATE 1/24:
Latest update: due to cold and snow and other crazy winter weather, the interviews are canceled. We will provide info and tips on running for office via email and other social networking methods! Fear not, the candidates will be well prepared for their campaign to run for 2011-2012 NH State DECA Officer Team !!!!!
Due to inclement weather, two scheduled meetings with the new officer candidates have had to be canceled! Hope the next interview date, on Monday, January 24, at Central High in Manchester, still goes! We shall see how the snow affects this date!
Next up is a meeting with other CTSO state officers in New Hampshire (like FFA, HOSA, FBLA, etc.) to plan the annual CTSO (Career Technical Student Organization) Day in Concord, NH. This activity is designed to promote the student organizations to the legislature and politicians who will support continued funding for these programs. So, hope this meeting works and we plan a good CTSO Day!
THE NEW HAMPSHIRE OFFICER TEAM ATTENDED THE NOVEMBER POWER TRIP IN WASHINGTON D.C., ALONG WITH 40 MEMBERS FROM THE NEW HAMPSHIRE DECA …… THERE WERE TWO DAYS OF NON-STOP WORKSHOPS AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT TRACKS, WITH MOCK COMPETITIVE EVENTS INCLUDED, ALONG WITH A FOUR HOUR MOONLIGHT TOUR OF THE CAPITAL AND ALL THE FAMOUS MONUMENTS!!!
New Hampshire DECA presented an hour long workshop called “DECA SUCCESS! Create the Best DECA Chapter Ever!” with tips on doing just that!

TEAM 54 at New Hampshire Career-Tech Student Organization training conference for State Officer Teams held in Gorham, New Hampshire, in August. It was an intensive two-day set of workshops and networking.
